Ocean Pines/Ocean City Club Hears that Miracles Can Happen
by David Landis
The Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines - Ocean City, a community
service organization, was privileged to hear from a new non-profit
group called Small Miracle Foundation when Stacey Esham,
pictured on the left with Corky WIderman, president of the
local Kiwanis club, was the guest speaker at a weekly meeting
at Ocean Pines. Many of the club's members belong to the
Community Church in Ocean Pines and some of the Kiwanians
participate in the rewarding yearly trips with the Appalachian
Service Projects (ASP) as a part of the Community Church
outreach program. The trips are taken to make repairs to
homes in Appalachia in need of serious work. Small Miracle
Foundation came to exist in May of 2008 as an offshoot of
Community Church ASP experience when it was realized that
there are also people in need of the same services in Worcester
County on the Eastern Shore of Maryland where the church
is located.
"
Small Miracles Foundation will assist residents of Worcester
County by providing the help they may not be able to afford,
or are unable to perform themselves due to any number of
limiting factors. Small Miracles Foundation will determine
the scope of the project through a combination of assessments
utilizing contractors. county assistance programs, and interviews
of the prospective residents in need.",
to quote their literature.
What they need is volunteers to do the work, supplies, and
money to fund the work. Anyone wishing to know how they can
help, please contact Stacey Esham at 410-726-8642 or by e-mail
at sesham@parkerforestryservices.com or Cathy Wist at 410-213-7561
or by e-mail at cazthywist@yahoo.com and leave a message
indicating that you wish to have your name added to the list
of volunteers for the Small Miracles Foundation. Also specify
how you would like to help, your phone number, and e-mail
address (if applicable).
Small Miracles Foundation's motto is, "Helping
the Eastern Shore of Maryland, One Small Miracle at at Time".
