Rehoboth Elementary K-Kids Club
by Rosemary Cummings
K-Kids from Rehoboth Elementary inducted new members and installed their Officers, Nick Maccarone, Alicia Davis, Megha Patel and Nikita Patel. The K-Kids get much done in their early morning meetings. They stuffed Teddy Bears and made greeting cards attached to a trivet to give to homebound Senior citizens. At Thanksgiving they each member told what they were Thankful for - Thanks for their family, friends and even their pets. Several members decorated the Kiwanis Tree for the Grotto's fundraiser, Parade of Trees. Other performed Community Service distributing songbooks and hot chocolate at the Rehoboth Beach Tree lighting ceremony. The K-Kids are anxious to help with the ELIMINATE Project, so they arranged a Holiday Bake Sale. Members brought fresh baked goodies to sell during their lunch periods from 11 AM - 12:30 PM. They went among their classmates telling about the sale and soon a line of students surrounded the bake cart. Members sold to their friends telling them about the selection of cookies and cupcakes and collected the money. The older kids were hoping there would be leftovers - but a Maintenance man dashed their hopes when he bought the last few cupcakes for his sons. Some students even made donations to the cause. The Club collected over $175 in just over an hour.
