Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

SUMMER IS PICNIC TIME for many Kiwanis clubs, but few have scenery to match that of the Wythe County Kiwanis Club. Past-President Ron Kime owns a tourist attraction on Big Walker Mountain and often invites the club to share the view — plus great food. On August 11, about 30 Kiwanians and guests assembled and, after eating dinner on the cusp of the mountain, heard regional author Joe Tennis tell tales from his new book about US 58 that traverses Virginia’s southern border. Special guests were Division 3 Lt. Governor Jim Mitchell and Southwest Virginia Regional Trustee Jack White.

Governor Art's Corner
by Gov. Art Riley

Potential is a word I find myself using more frequently as I travel the Capital District. As Governor I have been able to witness potential converted into action as well as potential that is still awaiting action. more

Tom says Thanks!
by Tom Ganse, Cap. Dist. Gov.-Designate

Do you remember that prairie-wisdom saying "When all is said and done there is usually more said than done?" Well, I'd prefer to avoid that, so my words will be simple. I offer my heart-felt thanks and appreciation to all of you who supported me during some very difficult trials earlier this year, and ask for your continued grace and support. Thank you to all in the District who expressed their confidence in my ability to serve you as Governor. It is a humbling privilege. more
