International Trustee Roe Franklin, introduced the Motto " WE BUILD:, at the International Board Meeting, in January of 1920. It was approved at the International Convention in Portland, Oregon in 1920.
Harry J. Elliott became the first Kiwanis International President from outside the United States. He was a member of the Montreal, Quebec Kiwanis Club and served in 1919 - 1920.
The Kiwanis Legion of Honor recognizes Kiwanians who have been members for 25 years or more. They are honored with a special lapel pin.
The Kiwanis International official publication first appeared in 1917. It was first called "The Kiwanis Club", other titles tried were "The Hornet", "The Torch" and" The Kiwanis Magazine". in 1976 the name was changed to simply "Kiwanis".
