Center Club

This month has been as busy as ever for the Town Center Kiwanians of Vairginia Beach. Our plans for the annual Town Center Race are underway and we expect this year to be even more successful in raising funds for our charities. It always coincides with Veterans day and falls on the Saturday nearest that date. Again the local resaurants will provide a "taste of Towncenter" after the race for runners as well as spectators.
Because of one of our younger members we have embarked on a service project that has not been something we were involved in in the past. Brett Bartlett,manager of the Gordon Biersch Brewery and restaurant, has been active in fundraising for many groups. One of them is Samaritan house and a program called REACH. Adults read to children of families in crisis of various sorts. One on one members read to children on a regular basis, while their parents are gaining skills to cope with their individual situations. Brett has been a true inspiration to our group and it is with a somewhat sad heart that we must say good-bye to him ans he moves on in his career and life to other areas --where I am sure he will continue to be an inspiration to others and continue to "give" to the community serving the children of the world.
Our"give back" social this month was at the Cheesecake Factory where a group of members enjoyed and evening offood and friendship. We hope to organize a Nine and Dine event before the Summer ends, where members and families can enjoy 9 holes of golf and a dining experience afterwards at the home of a membe
