Kiwanis Club of St. Mary's County SLP

Builders Club members from Spring Ridge Middle School hand made and delivered Valentine's Day cards to the senior citizen residents at Chesapeake Shores Nursing Home in Great Mills, Maryland. Ten Builders Club members accompanied Kiwanis Advisor Bob Owen, and CKI Advisor to Builders Club Erika Schmitt on the field trip, where the students cheerfully greeted the residents, passed out the cards, and wished the residents a happy Valentine's Day. This is an annual project for the Builders Club, which is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of St. Mary's County.
Members of the CKI Club at St. Mary's College of Maryland, a Service Leadership Program sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of St. Mary's County, attended the CKI Capital District Convention in Arlington, VA in February. The club was honored to receive 13 awards including Oustanding Kiwanis Family Relations, Overall Club Achievement award, Grow to Serve/Serve to Grow award, Distinguished Secretary award (Emily Wavering), the induction of a member into the Society of Distinguished Collegians (Emily Wavering), and three members won the King Crab Award for performing over 150 service hours in one year (Jay Massey, Erika Schmitt, and Emily Wavering). The Kiwanis Club of St. Mary's County was recognized as the Outstanding Sponsoring Kiwanis Club, and the Kiwanis Advisor to CKI, Glynnis Schmidt, was honored to receive the Outstanding Kiwanis Advisor award

Nine students from the Key Club of Great Mills High School attended the Capital District Key Club Convention in Arlington, VA on March 25-27. Great Mills was recognized for obtaining the silver level of membership growth, donating more than $250 to UNICEF, submitting early-bird dues, and participating in both the district and governor's project this year.
