Rehoboth Main Street Joins Kiwanis
by Rosemary Cummings
When Rehoboth Main Street President Drexel Davison and Jennifer Barger, Executive Director, recently attended a Rehoboth Kiwanis Club meeting, the intent was to discuss Main Street and where the Main Street organization was going under their new leadership. And Kiwanis wanted to discuss ways to improve the July 4 Fireworks Parking event. Instead, Jenny and Drexel asked questions about Kiwanis, what does Kiwanis mean and what it does. Drexel is well known at the local elementary school, as he appeared as Daddy Warbucks in the recent musicale, Annie, and enjoys working with kids. Both Jenny and Drexel agreed they would like to help whenever they could and then they asked, "What do we have to do to join?" The members sitting at their table were somewhat taken back. Jim Kunkle immediately handed them the Kiwanis brochure, Changing Tomorrows Today and gave them some Kiwanis history, its purpose and the service provided in the Coastal communities. Jim indicated there was an application form included and if they were interested in joining, he would sponsor them. On the spot they completed the applications and gave a check for the New Member dues. A great day for Kiwanis. At the January Board meeting, they were approved for membership. Next step, Induction and Member Orientation and yes, Jim Kunkle will receive two keys for bringing in two new members. (Above) President Ken Drerup thanks Jenny Barger and Drexel Davison for addressing Kiwanis and welcomes them as new members.
