Ain't
No Stoppin' Div. 13!
by Judy R. Pantelides, Lt. Governor 2008-09, Division 13

The new Lt. Governor,
Presidents and Regional Trustee of Division 13 know
how to get down and get ready for a great new Kiwanis
year! (Left) Judy Pantelides, LG, and Floyd Brown,
Hampton Roads Regional Trustee led the group singing "Ain't No Stopping Us Now" with backup by Presidents Jimmie Williams, Warwick; Chuck Root, Peninsula/Oyster
Point; Chris Jacobson, By the Bay; Amy Thorstad, Mercury
64 and behind Floyd is Al Bryant, Hampton.
The evening event with a Caribbean theme was held September 15th at the Hampton Yacht Club with over 100 persons in attendance. Mike Grimes, Governor-Elect with the Missouri-Arkansas Region, flew in to speak to the group providing inspiration and challenging them to their best year yet!
Upper right is a special cake also displaying our theme for the year. We are off to a great start this year and look forward to a number of new SLP groups as well as providing even more service to our community.

Many individuals join Kiwanis clubs specifically because we are an international
organization with a global mission-that lofty goal of changing
the world one child and one community at a time. To this
point, with a few notable exceptions, our Capital District
clubs seem to have focused on local efforts directed toward
helping our own children and communities. This is commendable,
but it does not address the incredible needs of children
worldwide...Accordingly,
our District Committee on International Understanding has
decided to pursue a new approach
to achieving our global mission. We have selected Africa because its needs are great and most of us know extremely
little about this part of the world...
