Club Celebrates 95th Birthday of Charter Member Howell
Barnes
Al Knehans
On September 24th, at a surprise party at the Montclair Country Club, the Woodbridge Kiwanis Club celebrated the 95th birthday of Howell Barnes, a Charter Member of the Club. Howell has been a very active and supportive member of the Club for over 61 years. He has never lost his enthusiasm for the Club and its many community support projects. As a special gesture to Howell, John Wiley provided some of his famous homemade ice cream, which was served with a cake, that had an edible photograph of Howell, with his Kiwanis cap on and with a big smile, selling fireworks for the Club. The photograph was indicative of the personal support that he has continually provided to the Club. Everyone wished Howell a very happy birthday and told him that we would have another birthday party for him in five years. Another highlight of the evening, was when the Club presented a "Distinguished Service Plaque" to Herb Tiede, in recognition of his outstanding service to the Club since 1996. An award justly deserved!
