Dover
Club Collects for Food Drive
by Allan Kujala
The Dover Kiwanis Club
collected over 1000 lbs. of canned and boxed food at
its Annual Food Drive on September 27 at the ACME Supermarket
in Dover to benefit the Kent Ecumenical Council food
pantries. Besides Kiwanians, members of the new Delaware
State University Circle K, Milford Aktion Club, and
Milford Key Club helped with the project. Pictured
(l.tor) are Dover Kiwanians Tomasina Pena, Bill Flayhart,
Beth Lush, and Neil McLean. Kiwanis is a global organization
of volunteers dedicated to improving the lives of children
throughout the world. For information about joining
this hands-on community service group contact Joyce

Many individuals join Kiwanis clubs specifically because we are an international
organization with a global mission-that lofty goal of changing
the world one child and one community at a time. To this
point, with a few notable exceptions, our Capital District
clubs seem to have focused on local efforts directed toward
helping our own children and communities. This is commendable,
but it does not address the incredible needs of children
worldwide...Accordingly,
our District Committee on International Understanding has
decided to pursue a new approach
to achieving our global mission. We have selected Africa because its needs are great and most of us know extremely
little about this part of the world...
