The "K-Family Weekend" Brings Together the Key Club & CKI Boards with Kiwanis Leadership Team
a Photo Essay by Immediate Past Governor Bob Cressy

Have you ever been on a "K-Family Weekend"? You'd never forget it, I'll tell you. Just what is a K-Family weekend anyway? Well, its definition is really the Kiwanis Family Weekend. Its purpose is to gather the current Key Club Board, the CKI Board and the new Kiwanis leadership team, especially all of the 2008-2009 Lieutenant Governors, SLP advisors and K-Family Governors. They assemble for most of three days to work and play together, to share ideas, plans and to get to know one another while coordinating their goals. more or view event photo album

Bethesda Club Reports Activities
by Past Gov. Bob Cressy

Top right: Cindy Notobartolo, Suburban Hospital Corporate Director of Emergency/Trauma, Safety & Security Services, gave a presentation of what area hospitals and emergency services providers have done since the 9-11-2001 attack on the United States which killed over 3,000 people to improve readiness. This was a most appropriate discussion of the coordination and preparedness that has been done since then. Thank you, Cindy.

Bottom right: Most Americans understand the threat posed by the foreign leaders and their followers who have sworn to annihilate us. Cindy Notobartolo, Suburban Hospital Emergency/Trauma Corporate Director, addressed us not only on how the Maryland medical and emergency service organizations have prepared themselves but also what you can do in your home. You should have medical supplies, water, food, a portable radio and other supplies as well in your home. If you are required to evacuate, a "Grab Bag" of such necessities to be ready in an instant to leave your home or office is recommended. This also includes financial records, passports, other I.D., some cash, gasoline and a PLAN. This is sound advice on this seventh anniversary of the attacks on New York City, Washington and the downing of the jet airliner in Shanksville, PA. Thank you, Char, for bringing us this program.

The Kiwanis Club of Bethesda annual has donated to the YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase to help support its services. Their new Marketing/Special Events Director, Bernadeen Zivkovic, accepted a check from the club. Our members also have donated significant service hours to the "Y" including help in telephones for their annual fund raisers. Bernadeen also has signed the forms to become a Bethesda Kiwanis member. So, thank you, Bernadeen!
