Kiwanis and Worcester Gold
by David Landis
Chairman for the Kiwanis Priority One Program, Dick Jacobs, is pictured updating the members of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines - Ocean City on the donations made to Worcester County G.O.L.D. (Giving Ones Lives Dignity). Kiwanis annually donates at least $1200 to Worcester County G.O.L.D., and sometimes other charities aimed at helping young mothers and small children, all part of the Kiwanis International Priority One Program. Worcester G.O.L.D. uses the funds to stock the County's three baby pantries for children pre-natal up to age 5. The mission of Kiwanis is "Serving the Children of the World". Collection cans, like the one Dick Jacobs is holding, are placed on the meeting tables into which members make donations weekly. Just recently these collection cans for "Priority One" are also being placed in businesses in the local area to give the community a chance to donate to the cause.
