Town Center Club
by Nancy Pindur
The Town Center Kiwanis Club of Virginia Beach had another very busy month. Wayne Foshay planned another social outing--a dinner at FORBIDDEN CITY, one of our Golf Tournament sponsors. We had a great dinner in a private room and a great turnout.
With a $525 donation from our members who joined us from the Suburban Club Marilyn Oxford headed a group to outfit one of the new rooms at the Union Missions family shelter which opens this month. Her circus theme room created a space with happy vibes.
Greg Hayes has been working with the city of Virginia Beach with plans for our part in the Neptune Festival to be held near the end of September. We are still waiting to find out at which of the three entertainment stages our beer tent will be located. WE man the tent for three days during the Fest.
Beverly Kiernan and her Race committee kicked off this years plans with a sponsor breakfast. With the help of Susan Long-Molnar they organized a breakfast to recruit potential race sponsors. We already have several commitments and we are sure this 5K race with a Taste of Town Center will be our biggest yet!The race has been held on or near Veterans day on a Saturday in November.
We continue to work with Diane Hotaling and REACH to read to children at a shelter while their parents are getting education and/or counseling.
